Chartered in 1975 by the National Association of Home Builders with about 50 members Originally chartered with Carbon County until the early 1980's because both associations were small Today we have just over 200 builder members and associate members. As a member of the Schuylkill Builders Association we are automatically members of the Pennsylvania Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders Provide benefits to the members Primary benefit is to provide health insurance to the members. As members of the PA Builders Association we become a large group and have lower costing group rates for health insurance instead the individual rate. All the benefits of the PA Builders Association and the National Association are also available to our members, such as conventions, seminars, legal counsel in some instances, and professional publications Member directories are sent to all members and we encourage the practice of doing business with a fellow member We have dinner meetings at local restaurants on the fourth Tuesday of the month, with guest speakers and also where members can meet and discuss various aspects of building and business. We currently have a Web site that has all members and trades listed for the general public to access. Be a service to the community Promote ethical business practices and standards within our membership and the building industry. Give $100.00 U.S. Bonds Graduation Scholarships to the top performing students at our local Vo Tech schools and we also have Tools Scholarships to help students buy some of tools necessary for trade schools. Address the issues that affect the building industry and housing. Examples: Labor shortage; Growth-smart growth, urban sprawl; Regulations-State wide building codes, OSHA; Environmental concern-water, energy, habitat; PA Contractor Licensing.
